INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION OF IDEAS  FOR
STUDENTS OF ARCHITECTURE AND URBANISM

PRESENTATION
The present Regulation aims to determinate rules for the realization of the International Competition of Ideas for Students of Architecture and Urbanism, under the theme “ARCHITECTURE FOR ALL: BUILDING CITIZENSHIP”

OBJECTIVE
The objective of this competition is to valorize the creativity and motivate the participation of Students of Architecture and Urbanism in the debate about the role of the Architects and Urbanists in the construction of spaces for Human Beings and their Citizenship.

OBJECT
Considering the objectives of the competition, the proposal is the realization  of a project practice that allows the competitors to transit, to contemplate and to propose interventions in various degrees involved in the production of space.

What has been sought, finally is the development of a propose which contemplates the following conditions below

Location and Area of Intervention
The intervention area is a free choice by the Student, and it must be located in the downtown area where his university, its located and it must read the area until continuous 10,000 m² and might be  interconnected road system and consolidated to the regular public transport.

In this area of the intervention presented proposal must contemplate,  in its development, issues of density, mobility, socialization and  living, environmental impact, interaction with the urban mesh, concerning also to  pre-existing and cultural standards, as well as those related to social vulnerability which is exposed to a significant portion of the urban population.

PROGRAM
The proposed program must compulsorily contain:

• Permanent and temporary Housing
• Local and regional Services
• Local and regional Commerce
• Health and Education public equipments

Patterns of use and land occupation

The occupation rates, the coefficient of utilization, the height limits, recoils and underground use are under the participant choice.
It is also under the participant choice to select the proportion of areas designated to the elements requested in the program.

PARTICIPATION CONDITIONS
The condition of Students of Architecture and Urbanism to be enrolled in the International Competition  of Ideas for Students is to be regularly register  in graduation courses, of Architecture and Urbanism schools or universities which are admitted by the competent institution in their countries.

The participation in the competition might be individually or in teams until five members.
Each team member must be a Student in the same university.
In any case the enrollee, individually or team, must be oriented by an Architect and Urbanist Teacher, who belongs to the same University of the enrollee.

ENROLLMENTS
The enrollments might be done by sending a message to the email grad@nonabia.com.br, containing a single electronic file in PDF format with the following documents:
• Signed registration form (model)
• Copy of receipt of registration for all team members (certificate or copies of ID card);
•Copy of receipt of the functional situation of the teacher (certificate or copies of ID card);
• Registration fee payment receipt copy

The deadline of enrollment  is at 11 p.m (gmt-3h00) of day on Oct. 3, 2011After all enrollment confirmation (documentation control) the enrollee will receive a message from the organization containing LOGIN and PASSWORD to the work sending.

This Login will be used later to identify the works and nominate the files during the selection and judgement period.

REGISTRATION FEE VALUE

The Students who live outside from Brazil, the registration fee is the amount of U$$ 30,00 (thirty American Dollars).

SUBMISSION OF WORKS
The works will be submitted for the selection and judgement via Internet, as follow:

01 board equivalent to A0 size, Portrait Orientation, in electronic file PDF of low resolution (72dpi).
In this board, in the reserved place for identification, it must appear only login, according to (model)
The name of the corresponding file to be sent must follow the standard: "your login"-1.pdf;

01 board of the identical content to the board of the previous item also equivalent size to A0 , portrait orientation, in  PDF file  of high resolution (minimum 300 and maximum 600 dpi).
In this board, in the place reserved must contain the complete identification of the team, according to (model)
The name of the corresponding file to be sent should follow the standard: "your login"-2.pdf.

01 electronic file in WMV format with a maximum duration of 30 seconds, containing informations illustratives of the  presented proposal - texts, images and moving images by the choice of the authors;
This file must be named according to the following standard: "your login"-3.wmv

• 02 significant images of the project, in  JPG or TIFF (300dpi) format with 20 cm of width;
These files must be named, respectively, according to the following standard: "your login"-4.jpg (or tiff) and "your login"-5.jpg (or tiff)

Technical Form (model) filled in an electronic file in pdf format.
This file must be named according to the following standard: "login" -6

 It is requested that the boards include the following information in appropriate scale:
Situation of the chosen area in the city
Location of the chosen area in central region
Boards of areas of the presented proposal

The deadline for project submission is at 11 p.m. (gmt-3h00) on October 17th, 2011.

SELECTION OF WORKS
The works submitted will be analyzed by the International Judging Commission composed  by Architects and Urbanists connected to different kinds of the profession fields.

The Judging Commission will select the works that must be presented in the "IX São Paulo’s International Architecture Biennial”

The selected projects will be exposed in two modalities: Material Support and Digital Support
Among the works selected the Judging Commission will confer three awards (1st, 2nd and 3rd) as well as honorable mentions and highlight.

The awarded works will receive a participation certificate and commemorative plaque.

CRITERIONS FOR SELECTION AND JUDGEMENT
It will be considered by the International Judging Commission  the following criterions of valuation:

• the adequation and relevance of the proposal to the general theme of the competition “ARCHITECTURE FOR ALL: BUILDING CITIZENSHIP”
• The urban articulation of the proposal with its surroundings and the city;
• Respect of environmental restrictions;
• Respect and appreciation of local memory;
• The coherence between the ideas of the proposal and its constructability and material characteristics;
• Contemplation of the required program elements;
• The creativity of the proposed solutions.

GENERAL PROVISIONS
The enrollment in the competition implies the acceptation of all terms of this Regulation in the cession to the nonaBia of graphic material, photo, video, multimedia, texts or any other material copyright, associated to participation, including photos or filming the exposed material for publication in the printed catalog and other forms of dissemination of the event, printed or edited.

The competing work might not contain any kind of advertisement.

The works which were published, presented or public disclosed in any kind of media, before of the publication of the final outcome competition, will be disqualified.
