IAB SÃO PAULO

O Instituto de Arquitetos do Brasil (IAB) é uma entidade sem fins lucrativos que desde 1921 se dedica à cultura arquitetônica e urbanística e à sociedade. Atualmente, o IAB é formado por 26 departamentos em diferentes unidades da federação, que possuem, por sua vez, núcleos nos municípios de maior relevância. A atuação da entidade é liderada pela Direção Nacional que é responsável pela articulação e pela coordenação dos departamentos, bem como pelas ações de abrangência nacional e internacional.

O Departamento de São Paulo (IABsp), fundado em 1943, promove diversas atividades, como debates, palestras, cursos, oficinas, projeção de filmes, premiações e a Bienal Internacional de Arquitetura de São Paulo. O IABsp promove reflexões e debates acerca das questões contemporâneas da arquitetura e do urbanismo. Também incide em políticas públicas por meio de representantes em diversos órgãos colegiados em todo o Estado de São Paulo.

Por meio da Direção Nacional, o IAB se faz representar nos órgãos da administração federal e se vincula a entidades internacionais, com destaque para a União Internacional de Arquitetos (UIA), órgão consultivo da UNESCO para assuntos relativos ao habitat e à qualidade do espaço construído, a Federação Pan-Americana de Associações de Arquitetos (FPAA) e o Conselho Internacional de Arquitetos de Língua Portuguesa (CIALP).

The Brazilian Institute of Architects (IAB) is a non-profit entity that since 1921 has been dedicated to architectural and urban culture, and society. Currently, the IAB is formed by 26 departments in different units of the federation, which have, in turn, nuclei in the municipalities of greater relevance. The entity’s activities are led by the National Directorate, which is responsible for the articulation and coordination of the departments, as well as for actions of national and international scope.

The Department of Sao Paulo (IABsp), founded in 1943, promotes various activities, such as debates, lectures, courses, workshops, film screenings, awards, and the Sao Paulo International Biennale of Architecture. IABsp promotes reflections and debates on contemporary issues of architecture and urbanism. It also influences public policies through representatives in various collegiate bodies throughout the State of São Paulo.

Through the National Directorate, IAB is represented in the organs of the federal administration and is linked to international entities, especially the International Union of Architects (UIA), UNESCO’s advisory body for matters related to habitat and the quality of built space, the Pan American Federation of Architects’ Associations (FPAA) and the International Council of Portuguese-speaking Architects (CIALP).
